I still, um. I still owe you a date. Anything specific you'd like to do?

A date...?

*Sonico stops for a moment and swallows, embarrassed*

Athrun...Are you sure?

[infinitejustice]

[There's a pause. Why that response?]

Of course I'm sure. Why wouldn't I be?

[sonicosuper]

I just...after being hospital...


*She has mostly healed, but she is still so self conscious of the red cuts and stitches up her arms and legs*

I don't look...

*But she isn't sure how to say it to him, that she is ashamed of how she looks, so she isn't sure if he'd still want to be seen with her*

[Another pause. Sonico doesn't give him much to go on, but Athrun manages to figure it out after a few seconds.]

Is...this about your wounds? The way you look?

[sonicosuper]

*Suddenly, she feels that she is being ridiculous and is quite upset at herself*

The wounds...they're...still not good. And the sleeping, and the eating...

*She is just so anxious that he'll realise what a mess she has been. Then she recalls the auction, the faxt that maybe he just wants what he has paid for*

But if you are sure you are still happy to, then of course we should have this date. I have no preference of what we do - you can decide whatever you like.

[Athrun figures that he was right, going by what Sonico was saying. He's been there, too, after all. He knows what it's like to have to stay in a hospital (well, a medical bay in his case) for an extended period of time, and what that can do. He takes a deep breath.]

Nothing could be more certain in my mind right now. I want you to remember that all of the injuries and wounds you have will heal. They're not permanent. You're still the same beautiful woman you have been up to this point, and you will continue to be so.

The mental scars take a longer time to heal, but believe me, the pain fades over time. And until that day, what you need right now is the people who love and care about you more than ever. People like me. I want to do this, not just for myself, but for you, too. You deserve this.

*When she hears him take that deep breath, Sonico assumes that he's about to tell her that she's right, that maybe they would think of doing this another time. So for a second, she's disappointed. But when he starts speaking, and saying such sweet and thoughtful things, Sonico has to bite her lip and hold her breath, trying to hide her tears. But he might guess how she feels by the sound of her voice when she replies*

[A hint of relief creeps into Athrun's voice.]

Apparently a chain of ice cream and Italian ice restaurants opened for the season last month. Would you care to stop by one with me for some ice cream? We could even time it so we watch the sun set.
